Morningdeer places sounds that's familiar to everyone as important parts of music; such sounds as water dripping, shutting a drawer, and rolling something.
Playing drum, bass, guitar, piano, and violin, she creates indescribably wonderful and enjoyable sounds.

Morningdeer

モーニングディア。ハンガリー在住のシンガーソングライター、マルチ楽器奏者。ハンガリー国内のエクスペリメンタル・ミュージック及びローファイ/ベッド ルーム・シーンでもっとも有名なアーティストのひとり。2011年にデビュー作'Days'をデジタルリリース。この作品でブダペストのエクスペリメンタ ル・シーンに登場するや否や話題となり、日本でもブレイクしたジャズ・シンガー、ハルチャ・ヴェロニカとの即興ジャズ・セッションや実験的な即興ジャズ・ グループ'beeper'で活動する。2012年にジャズ・グループを解散後、ソロ２作目となる'Concert On A Twig'を完成させ、日本のウェアラバウツ・レコーズからリリース。このアルバムに収録された個性的なサウンドは、アートロック、エクスペリメンタル・ ノイズ、インディートロニカに分類されるものだが、そこには常にジャズの深みが潜んでいる。敢えてカテゴライズするならば、アート・リンゼイ、セイント・ ヴィンセント、初期のココロージーなどのアートロックを思い浮かべていただきたい。

SPEAK LOW（2007）、You Don't Know It's You（2008）、RED BAGGAGE（2009）と立て続けにスマッシュ・ヒットを飛ばし、今やハンガリーを代表するジャズ・ボーカリストとなった。作詞、作曲にも長けてお り、ニコラ・コンテのイタリアンツアーの正式ボーカリストにも抜擢されるなど才能と美貌を独り占めにする才女。現在は自身のジャズ・カルテットの他、エレ クトリック、ダンス色の強いBin-Jipを率いて精力的に活動中。

Morning, Dear! As I say to the cat each day.

MorningDeer is in fact Krisztina Danyi, a Hungarian classically-trained vocal prodigy who has produced a series of lo-fi bedroom recorded music that veers between art-rock, experimental noise, and playful lo-fi indietronica with jazz.  

It sounds a little like this: imagine if Amy Winehouse had gone completely insane, turned her back on the soul revue and headed into bleak complicated european art rock territory where she used her voice in a myriad of quirky and unusual stylings backed by a Budapest jazz outfit. It's really oddball stuff but quite brilliant at times.

Opener ‘Move Along’ sounds not unlike an improvised attempt at the mid-section of ‘Heroes and Villains’, but the album comes alive with ‘Drive’ which forges a laid back jazzy sound with vocals going here, there and everywhere. A sound which is taken to further extremes on ‘Fair’ where the voice is chopped up, kind of like a smoky jazz inflected Norman Collier. Comparisons could be made to early CocoRosie, St Vincent and perhaps a bit of Serafina Steer or Joanna Newsom, but it's waaaay out there with the musical choppiness of the likes of Arto Lindsay, Derek Bailey or early Gastr Del Sol.

An intriguing, if difficult, listen.
